Academic Performance
A strong academic record is expected. While there is no universal GPA cutoff, most schools look for candidates in the top tier of their programme.
Languages
A minimum of two languages is required — English plus preferably the language of your target school. Three or more languages significantly strengthen your profile.
Internationality
CEMS looks for genuine international orientation — study abroad, living in a foreign country, international internships or meaningful cross-cultural experiences.
Extracurricular Activities
CEMS strongly values candidates who are active beyond academics — student associations, leadership roles, volunteering, sport or cultural involvement.
Work Experience
While not a formal requirement, relevant internship experience is expected. Most successful applicants have completed at least one or two substantive internships before applying.

Bachelor's Degree Transcript
A bachelor's degree is required — generally in business or a related field. Non-business degrees are accepted provided a substantial portion of modules was completed in business, economics or management.
GMAT / GRE
Some schools require a GMAT or GRE score; others do not. Even when not required, a strong score can strengthen your application.
English Language Proficiency
English proficiency must be demonstrated via TOEFL, IELTS or equivalent — unless your bachelor's degree was taught entirely in English.
Motivation Letter
Address your international orientation, social engagement and reasons for choosing CEMS. Make sure these come through clearly: desire to achieve, social engagement, international orientation and motivation.
Letters of Recommendation
Typically one or two letters — from a professor and/or a professional supervisor. Choose referees who can speak to your international mindset, initiative and character, not just your academic performance.
